Note: I only made note of my loco hauled trains at this time.

Ah, what's this bit of gen. The 84 I had missed a few weeks ago is to work S19. (Unbeknown to us at the time this was the last working 84 in service). Can I get to it, it will be close. Would you believe it that darn electric 86329, the 'hero' from Saturday morning was on the train. Back at Crewe there were several glum faces about, we can't get the 84. Nonsense, I said, O52 the Brighton can do it with a plus six at Stafford and so it proved to be. I took the 84 to Wigan with a bit of help from a 47 with the diversion.

Back to Birmingham with the Bristol train. There was a required 40 on the Southport ADEX so I had that and made my way up to Crewe and then Rhyl behind a succession of dud locos. Yorkie was at Rhyl (also bowled out for new engines). Our earliest train back brought much mirth and merriment as we watched two drunk Irishmen attempting to open the toilet door. Down to Birmingham where I found a required NB 47 on a Leamington bound train, returning quickly so I could get up to Derby where the 20s were. Something I was to see again in latter years, the DMU was very slow and I had to bail at Long Eaton. Nevertheless I was able to get two new class 20s in the book and make the 2100hrs train back to New Street. As I arrived I spotted another 85 that I required and legged it over to catch the ADEX returning to Wolverhampton. As we left New Street I leant out of the front window to check the number and, doh, in my tiredness I had got it wrong. That could have been a bad move but I was able to get a good connection back to New Street and then on to home. Phew, an absolutely exhausting weekend.
